1. The HAPS Educator is published online three times per year in April, August, and December.
2. All HAPS Educator issues are available for download from www.hapsweb.org
3. Submissions must be a minimum of 1000 words and topics must be relevant to Anatomy and Physiology education.
a. Authors do not have to be members of HAPS.
b. All HAPS Educator articles are peer-reviewed.
4. Submissions must be directed towards one of three categories:
a. Educational Research: These papers discuss pedagogical research projects supported by robust data. Research articles usually include an introduction, methods, results and discussion section. However, the authors may choose an alternate organization if it more effectively presents their project.
b. Current Topics: These timely articles critically summarize the peer-reviewed literature on specific topics. They must also include a short description of how the information can be used in teaching anatomy and/or physiology.
c. Perspectives on Teaching: These articles discuss a teaching philosophy or modality. Lengthy (more than 1000 words) descriptions of teaching activities without accompanying data are also most welcome in this section.
5. All original articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and, as of 2017, are evaluated for inclusion into the Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) database.
1. It is the policy of HAPS that any advertising appearing in the HAPS Educator must be appropriate.
a. The HAPS Educator Editors will jointly determine whether an advertisement is appropriate.
b. Any advertising that is inappropriate or does not to meet the needs of the organization will not be published and the advertisement plus any monies collected from the advertiser will be returned.
c. Advertisement of a product in the HAPS Educator does not represent endorsement of that product by HAPS.
2. Advertising rates, advertising specifications and submission requirements, and payment terms are described in the HAPS Educator Advertising Rate and Specification Sheet available at www.hapsweb.org.
Generative artificial intelligence, commonly referred to as AI, has the following restrictive allowance when used by authors submitting their manuscripts to the HAPS Educator. In general, AI may not be used to create, write, produce, or analyze any part of a manuscript including figures and tables. As such, AI cannot be included as an author and should not be cited as a reference. The use of AI technology for managing references and minor editing of text is allowed.
Authors who submit manuscripts written or enhanced by AI will violate this policy and will not be considered for publication.
To protect the confidentiality of the review process, no reviewer or editor of the HAPS Educator will upload any part of a submitted manuscript to an AI technology.
